Everyone! List Your Favourite Avant-Garde Sound Libraries Here
Posted 02 January 2012
One of the articles on ComposerFocus has a look at different but effective sound libraries (like Violence, which I recently purchased and happen to be thoroughly enjoying). I'd like to find out what you find are great libraries that have a different sound, or are just plain odd.
Feel free to include links, how you use it, anecdotes, among other things.
To start off, I'll list some of my favourites:
Around the World in 80 Raves for a bunch of great quality glitched, mangled, crushed and twisted hits and sound FX. There are a few normal things in here, but they are far outshined by the craziness of the "rave" sound.
Circlebells from Soundiron offers a strange, but beautiful sound to use in almost any composition. I find it reminds me of the Shadow Hearts soundtrack. A truly graceful instrument, and not very well known.
As mentioned above, Violence is a brilliant sound library to have a look at, with alternative sampling and some very unique sound coming out of the library.
