Beethoven violin sonatas <swoon>

A couple of weeks ago I had my local classical radio station on. (Yes, I am fortunate enough to live in an area that still has one.) I wasn't paying any attention, I'm embarrassed to say, when suddenly the music became so wonderful that it grabbed my attention. Again my mind wandered, but then a combination of the music and the musicianship brought it back.

I had to write to the station in order to find out what CD was playing. It turned out to be the 1953 DGG Kempff-Schneiderhan version of the complete Beethoven sonatas.

The particular one that so caught my attention on the radio was No. 2.

I've had the privilege of listening to all of them now. The No. 2 is still wonderful. And now, of course, I can listen to all the others as well.

Highly recommended to say the least.

I'll have a listen! And I'd like to return the recommendation by suggesting any of Beethoven's string quartets, particularly the middle and late ones. Apparently Schubert, upon hearing them, said something along the lines of "what is left to write?"
